This coming Friday go to Kanga Collective is holding its first official information session on Babywearing. I will be talking briefly about the safety/how to choose/basic Optimal Positioning when it comes to baby carrying. This is the pilot plan that will eventually be run out throughout Australia!
I will then be available to assist individuals with their own questions or tweaks they might need, and advising on what carrier one might need in relation to their needs.
This is not to promote Beetlebums in any way - in fact, just to prove it, I will not even bring one with me. This is part of the Kanga Collective 101 sessions!! The carriers that will be there are provided by those who have kindly donated to the Kanga Collective Carrier Library, along with some examples of ideal baby carriers. Kanga Collective Advocacy Bags will also make their debut, with the participants being given one to take home with them.
If you are in the area and would like to come along and learn all about the HOW and WHY when it comes to babywearing, then please come along to the Toowoomba Library, from 9.30am this Friday 11th May.

The Golden Ticket - Das Trageschule in Australia!
Wow is all I can say - I have been invited by Manduca Australia and Fertile Mind to participate in a Das Trageschule Babywearing Consultants course, facilitated by none other than the founder of the famous European School, Ulrike Hower. There are just ten experienced babywearing advocates invited, so yes - after watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory just the other night, I feel like I won a Golden Ticket.
So, in April, ten keen, excited and curious women will converge in Sydney. Quite a few of us have known eachother for years online. How awesome to experience this all together! Not to mention the sleepover, geeking out over carriers and the classes, food, chatting and... Maybe cocktails?
THEN, on April 14, there is a free Babywearing Masterclass in which babywearing enthusiasts and professionals from all over the country will meet!! Once again - loads of women I've known for years online will be standing in front of me!! Hugs abounding!!
The best part of course is the fact that this amazing opportunity has been given to us - not just those participating but ALL of Australia. This is the first major event here in our country in relation to babywearing only, and only good can come from such a great education.
Can't wait to blog my brain off about this - I am so excited and feel humbled and honoured to be invited! Squee and WOOT!

Avery - OOAK HB Restyle with Wings. For Heartfelt in honour of Avery and Kristie.
This OOAK Half Buckle with Wing straps has been made in honour of Avery, and his beautiful mother Kristie. Kristie designed this colourway (made by Girasol), and Tinoki had them made. Brie from Tinoki donated the wrap, and I my time to create this special carrier. All proceeds are going to Heartfelt.
Kristie shares some words with us -
Avery Fox Charles Tatton was born July 14 2011, silently and still. In the immediate aftermath of his death, Heartfelt were called to take photos of the family so we would forever have memories of his brief time with us. These have proven to be the most special and treasured pieces in our family.
This photo is such a blessing to this mama's heart
The Avery Wrap by Girasol was designed in Avery's memory by me in the short time after his death. One of the things I longed so much to do was carry him close in a woven wrap and kiss the top of his head.
I hope you will love to carry your babe in this Avery thanks to Beetlebums and <<Tinoki>>.
You will also find Averys story on my blog, <<Hesperas Garden>>.

The proceeds will help Heartfelt give more families memories to last a lifetime.

I feel so blessed to be able to give what I can, and I would love to take the time to thank my friend Brie from Tinoki for kindly donating this special wrap. I am always in awe of the strength and resilience that Kristie has exhibited. What an amazing woman, and what an inspiration.
Bidding will start on Avery on Sunday night, 5th Feb at 8.30pm. It will end on the following Wednesday night. Please if you would like to donate an amount, any at all, contact Heartfelt - they would love to hear from you.
Big love.

Safety First - ALWAYS
I would like to take a moment of your time and direct you to the Tinoki blog. Brie has written a fantastic post about carrier safety and what you need to know to ensure the carrier/s that you use are safe.
She made an awesome point - 'Babywearing is safe however not all baby carriers are'. How very apt that statement is.
So please, click here on Tinoki and absorb her wise words, your precious baby is worth the extra minute it takes to check over your baby carrier/s.
Also, if you haven't visited and joined Kanga Collective - what are you waiting for? The mystery prize will be drawn in literally days, and there is lots of action and chatter. It is Australia's new Baby Wearing Forum, along with a fantastic Wiki and blog. Speaking of which, if you have a great article that you would like to submit to either the Wiki or the Blog then please join up and submit!
Big, safe love!

Amaali
This is Amaali, a big kid sized full buckle Summer Beetlebum that I made for my archnemesis (:P), Laura. Her daughter does NOT sleep... So I hope that Amaali soothes her off to sleep faster than ever!
Ive still got a couple of carriers to get out before Christmas, and with Kanga Collective up and running, I am a super busy mama! I am a bit behind on emails, I promise I haven't forgotten you if you have emailed me :).
I will be listing some chest straps this week too, Ive seen that there is quite a demand for them. They are adjustable and can be used on any carrier.
Off now to look at Christmas lights!
